UYO holds Community of Practice Session with stakeholders drawn from Belo and Batibo. The 11th September 2021 activity had in participation; traditional, religious authorities, international organizations and legal practitioner in a bit to form a Community of Practice for common services against Gender Based violence through the referral path way. Speaking during the opening session was the Chief Executive Officer Talikong Loveline Musah who expressed great satisfaction and appreciation for the participants to brave the odds amidst the tension and particularly the insecurity from this communities to be part of the CoP. She went further to say “this is a land mark sacrifice for the wellbeing of women and girls in your communities and of curse your role as community leaders in ensuring a GBV free Batibo and Belo”. As if that is not enough, she gave rundown of activities carried out by the protect team in Batibo and Belo since July 2021 under her leadership as the Principal Investigator. The project Manager for the UNCERF funded project through UNWomen Melvin Songwe gave overview of the project, activities carried out. The GBV community of Practice (CoP) group of UYO is focusing more on the need to share common concern, share best practices and creating new knowledge to advance domain of professional practice. This platform is to support each other in service delivery for the benefit of victims or those at risk of GBV through education, encouragement, integration, introduction of collaborative processes, generate new knowledge acquiring new knowledge/idea from the diverse stream of participants. Says Nsono Josophine the presenter while Nakinti Besumbu reiterated on prevention, response and mitigation mechanism of GBV. The purpose of the said CoP is to ensuring provision of access to life serving information and integrated services through referral pathways, empowerment hubs/safe spaces using GBV multi sectoral service delivery.
